Apple iPad

iPad
In the world of iThings the latest addition is the long awaited iPad. Released today, the Apple iPad is designed to be used for email, web browsing, photos, video, music, games, iWork and eBooks. The iPad uses the iPhone OS 3.2, so it can also run most current iPhone apps. It features a 9.7-inch Multi-Touch screen, on screen keyboard, WiFi. Bluetooth 2.1, 16-64GBs of storage, and a 10 hours of battery life. The iPad is also available in a 3G version. Personally I think of this as a gigantic iPod Touch that can also be used as a digital photo frame. It doesn't fit everyone's lifestyle for that matter but it's really cool and "magical" like everything else Apple does. Watch the product video here.

Ansen Seale5Over the past 10 years, I have pursued a little-known genre called "slitscan photography. Far from being just a visual curiosity, it has become a substantial tool for the exploration of themes meaningful to me. I have found slitscan photography to be an excellent vehicle for ideas central to my work-- ideas about time and our place in its continuum." Via ansenseale.com Read more »

Sydney New Years Eve 09

Inspiration: Hiroshi Sugimoto

Hiroshi Sugimoto
Japanese photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto has always used his camera to explore unseen phenomena. His latest project, called Lightning Fields, the award-winning photographer traded optics for electricity. He wields a Van de Graaf generator to send up to 400,000 volts through film to a metal table. The resulting fractal branching, subtle feathering, and furry whorls call to mind vascular systems, geologic features, and trees. Although some of the effects happen by chance, the artist does try to exercise control. “I have a kitchen’s worth of utensils that produce sparks with different characteristics,” he says. “But there are many variables — weather, humidity, perhaps even what I had for breakfast — I’m never sure what influences the results.”

Because of the buildings massive height, it had to be equipped with some of the fastest elevators in the world which travel at 25mph. Amazing!
